Is it still possible to be an intellectually fulfilled atheist in 2017?

Oxford biologist Richard Dawkins famously quipped, "Darwin made it possible to be an intellectually fulfilled atheist." In other words, before Darwin published his Origin of Species, no one had a satisfying, naturalistic explanation for the apparent design in nature.

However, while Darwin's explanation may have offered intellectual fulfillment in the nineteenth century, does it still satisfy today?

James Tour does not seem to think so. With over 475 research publications and over 60 patents, Tour was named one of the 10 top chemists in the world by Thompson Reuters. He specializes in nanotechnology and has rankled many of his fellow scientists by admitting that he has no clue how evolution could have produced the machinery found in a living cell. For 10 years he has been asking his Darwinist colleagues to enlighten him, but none have come forward.
